So Will I Fight

Standing in this unsightly place, staring at the beautiful door,
Though creatures stand in the way, blocking me from walking into my more,
And though I fear that I may never leave this place known as my creation,
I walked up to it, held my head up high, and said no to wicked gratification.

It wasn't over yet. The creature wanted me to fall.
It stood there large in girth and in stature, very tall.
"Why don't you just do it? You know you'll like it," it said.
But I fought and said, "No, for this is not the future I see for myself when I look ahead."

Wrath filled its face, and it lunged at me with an angry vengeance.
I turned around quickly, ran. I refused to succumb to this terrible sentence.
It stole my peace, it stole my joy. Oh yes, I very much remember.
And so I stopped and turned around. My fear, it so did wither.

So I fought. I fought the temptation that it throws,
Yet felt for naught because of the darkness that arose.
And though triumphant, each day I slowly stroll,
As I fight with my weapon of self-control.

Screaming, the creature's malignant, never-ending screaming,
Seeming that the creature is mad over my glorious redeeming.
"You'll never be anything. You may as well give up the dreaming."
But I fought, for behind that beautiful door was the beaming light of illustrious meaning.

So I fought. No, so I fight, with the weapons of a gentle soldier,
And the strong, majestic strength of a great and mighty knight.
And though imperfection, demeaning daydreaming, and cautious attitudes consume me at times,
I will stand tall, man my ground, get back what is mine.

And so I fight, for through that beautiful door, there is great joy and possibility, accompanied with great faith and the withered fear of night.
Finally, the creature overcomed, no more overwhelming fright.
And now that we're off to the next challenge, to this one I say the same simple phrase,

"Through this, So Will I Fight."
