Greatness isn’t temporary

Greatness isn't temporary,
But it's no ice cream sundae with a cherry, either.
It's scary.
It's a gift with purpose that varies.
And though you may have to tarry, and might have to become wary, and there's a heavier load you have to carry,
You might wanna drop the load
Due to the voices of the adversary.
And it might be your own mind,
But even on the contrary,
You get up and take responsibility because,
Until you realize that's what's necessary
In order to become legendary,
You'll never understand that
Greatness isn't temporary.

Still don't believe me?
Well, let me tell you a story so you can truly see.

There once was a man stranded in the forest without sight,
Looking for a great tree of the uttermost importance,
A tree rooted in life by a bed of rushing waters, taking that
No man had ever come close to the wisdom that it offers.

Yet the man became lost, disoriented in his ways,
Holding on to hope of rescue as he sat there for many days.
But he finally became hopeless, proclaiming he'd never be saved.
But something wouldn't let him die, for great potential remained.
So, as he was laying there on the very brink of death,
He saw a hand outstretched to him and felt life within his breath.

The hand grabbed him and restored him back to new. It guided him out of that forest to a beautiful green field with skies so blue.

But this wasn't any green field. It was the field he had come to find.
And standing in the middle of this field was a tree, a tree so beautifully designed. It was standing by a river of living water, refined.

The man was ecstatic, for it was that day he learned that
Mistakes and past failures
Are nothing more than layers
To the trailer of your future
That's promising you better.

For trial and tribulation are only momentary.
And although you may feel like giving up, remember that patience is longevity.
You are special, you are unique, and who you are is not ordinary.
For understanding you are not your past
Is understanding that
Greatness isn't temporary.

Still don't believe me?

Though ever contemporary, Lance Armstrong once said,
"Pain is temporary. But quitting lasts forever."

Only over many endeavors have I come to discover and find
That a blind man is not solely limited to one who has lost their sight,
But, in the realm of the word, could be someone who has lost their might, failing to see
The discretionary aptitude of their functionary magnitude,
Fundamentally losing sight of the primary altitude that could be reached
From the very understanding of the latitude of thought
That ought to be preached.

Though the question stands:
Why isn't greatness temporary? Who?

Well, the answer is quite simple, really.
The exemplary rationality of why
Greatness isn't temporary
Is you.
